Sisters in Laguna Beach

Siblings are the relationships we have in life that by default can be the longest lasting connection we have. My sisters are so precious to me, and have gotten me through so many tough times. We have laughed till our tummies hurt and also have so many fun photographs together. Taking portraits of sisters has to be one of my most favorite subjects. Especially when they love the water as much as these two.

One of the reasons I love to create portraits in the water is the way they can be displayed in the home as art and decor, as well as action-full memory of a day in ocean. These two sisters and I got to jump in the water only after we captured the traditional portrait of them and their family together, all dry for the family holiday card. But being able to play in the water after is a dream job to me.

These cute swimsuits from Target were the perfect look, and since they are last season I also want to shout out to my favorite small locally owned brand Seaesta Surf. They have such great clothing with amazing quality and cute styles.

Ocean photos

We cannot always be guarenteed a chance to take photos in the ocean especially since Southern California is known for the summer swells, but because there are so many coves here in Laguna Beach, there is almost always one that is open for swim. This beach here is usually protected by a row of rocks, you can see it in the photo to the right above, and that offers us the chance to swim with little or no waves.

This shoot is especially special to me because this older sister was first my client when she was only nine months old. We shot her in her home, at the best baby age ever, where they can sit up and not run away from you, but have the interactions and smiles of a toddler. I am so blessed and lucky to have been with this family for so long, and love watching them grow up with each other, photographing over the years in Laguna and Newport Beaches.

Last year we were able to shoot them in their pool swimming around.

If the parents get in the water it is a total bonus. I am working on this mamma, maybe next year I can get her to jump in with me.

But for now, I am so glad that they chose me to capture this precious time these two sisters have together.
