Surfing sisters
The beautiful coastline of Laguna has long been a backdrop for photos, from the cliffside painters at montage, to the family portraits on the beach. Crystal clear turquoise waters and palm trees lining the beach it has become a vacation spot like no other. One goal I have found in my work has been to find that intersection of portraiture and art. I like creating images that are more likely to be framed and shared on the walls of homes and look less like a school portrait or linked in bio photo. One way to do this best is to find a love or activity that the family or children enjoy and to photograph them doing just that.
So although I might have the goal to get more artsy photos, I also try and capture the traditional portraits as well.
If your children love the ocean, and that is a happy place for them, the session takes a lovely turn when we enter the waters to play. We capture a natural and deep joy in the Pacific Ocean, and hopefully grab photos that will be a great addition to the walls of your home.
When I first met this family, we photographed their oldest at 9 months, on the parents bed in their home in Newport Beach. And here we are, surf and ocean obsessed water babies swimming with me in the Pacific Ocean. It really is a dream come true for me.
