10 Years Later

A family can grow and change so fast. There are no words to explain the joy of watching my families grow up, it is an honor beyond my comprehension that I get to feel a part of their lives in a special and beautiful way. When I photograph families, I see them only one day a year. But when you get to see and photograph a family, you are more than just a part of their portrait ritual, you get to know personalities, and watch bonds become stronger, and learn how special a family can be. This family has changed quite a lot since I first met them in Newport coast ten years ago.

10 years ago there was just one child, the center of the universe for this family. Today there are three lovely boys, with even more love to share.

But there are some things that don’t change, those blue eyes, that father son bond, that pensive soul starting at me.

The photo on the left is the oldest child and the one on the right is the youngest… This mother bond stays the same. It is most likely harder to get the snuggles out of the 10 year old though. But that must be what photos are for, to remind us that those tweenagers were once snuggly babies!

One thing that has changed for me in the past ten years is my love for ending sessions in the water. These ocean loving kids were happy to oblige me, and we enjoyed watching the sun go down over the waters of Laguna Beach.
