Time passes: Over a Decade of family photos
There were three little monsters running around a backyard in Pasadena at the grandmas pool, and I was instantly mesmerized by the dynamic of a family with three kids, while my single three year old at home caused me enough to deal with, I had no idea how moms of multiples did it. But I was determined to photograph, and capture some of that chaos and joy of the family dynamic that day. If you have ever done portraits of a toddler or two you know the challenge, it extended beyond the scope of exposure and composition and is more of a magic trick, of sorts to get the kids to all sit down together in proximity. Through the years, I have photographed this family in Laguna, San Diego, Los Angeles, Malibu, and Pasadena. Whether our outings were at the beach, on their vacation, in their backyard, we always had fun capturing their annual photos.
Once I purchased my underwater housing and told this family of my dream of shooting kids in the ocean, they were right there to support me and sign up as one of my first family swim and photo shoots. We were blessed with one of those Laguna Beach sunsets that you will never forget where the clouds, and the sun decided to coordinate in a stellar show.
Overall, I as a business owner my sales techniques are terrible, this month alone I had two people reach out and said they wished they bought more photos. Constantly I am told that they are so glad that I insisted in making them as parents hop in a few photos as well. Heck! Even I hate being in photos, but looking back, and seeing how fast time does go by, we can never go back and snuggle with our toddlers again, but we will always have the photos to remind us of what it felt like.
